Have
you ever walked into a room and had the hairs on the back
of your neck stand to attention? Have you ever felt that
something's wrong leaving you unable to concentrate on what
you are doing? Maybe - just maybe - you need the services
of ''The Space Clearer''.
Susie Shaw is a rather unique individual who has a completely
different outlook on life from most of us other mortals.
But 15 years ago, the world was a very different place for
her. Back then, she was a city worker in a high pressure
job earning a six figure salary and living life to the full.
''At the time l was working in a high tower block that had
windows you couldn't open and a cluttered layout which 'spoke'
of chaos and confusion whenever you set foot in it. One
afternoon I happened upon a seminar in the local paper and
decided to go and take a look. Little did l know that the
experience would alter my whole perception of life.
"I
had two young children and was returning to an environment
that I couldn't really settle back into. My circumstances
had changed, but since the birth of my daughters something
else had changed within me too. Suddenly I was ready to
strip away the material world I had allowed to grow around
me and reach out for something more spiritual and rewarding.
''And
with that realisation life changed forever for me"
she admitted.

Susie
Shaw - A rather unique individual |
Susie
has spent the last 10 years of her life helping people
come to terms with this kind of problem and, thankfully
also assisting them in finding a solution. During
that time she has featured in various newspaper and
magazine articles as well as being interviewed on
BBC Radio. She has been given a variety of titles
from ''Space Clearer'' to ''Spirit Doctor" to
''Psychic Cleaner'' but when I caught up with Susie
at her London home, she told me that she always introduced
herself as a geomancer. Seeing my blank expression,
she explained exactly what a geomancer does.
Some people believe that the energies within a house
can determine a lot about how it's inhabitants actually
live their lives. Whatever happens in a home is absorbed
by the walls, the floors, the ceiling, furniture,
objects, plants, animals and people in that space,
so it sticks around. If previous occupants had financial
problems, divorce, illness or other traumas, or the
company or business suffered, these negative energies
remain in the space or object and affect future occupants
and businesses. |
"Repetitive
patterns, moods and atmospheres get deeply imprinted and
can cause future occupants to experience the same problems."
Feng shui experts might put it down to where you position
your furniture or how much lighting illuminates a particular
area; psychics might suggest it's more about the people
within a place who lend it an atmosphere; and estate agents
would probably just tell you it's nothing that a skylight
can't fix: but, explained Susie, a space clearer will take
a very different approach.
''When this happens I am usually called into remove the
''stuck'' energy and transfer it away from the area where
it is causing problems. "So, she added, '' . . . as
a geomancer, it is my job to move energy via the use of
crystals, pendulums or any other means at my disposal in
an effort to ease the living environment''.

Lines
of magnetism run invisibly through the landscape
|
Now
by any stretch of the imagination, this might seem
a difficult concept to grasp; and there has to be
a line of sceptics longer than your arm waiting to
disprove such notions and Susie is the first to accept
this. In fact, as a quiet and initially reserved individual
Susie isn't someone who wanted to force her theories
and beliefs down anyone's throat but neither did she
want the basic principles of her practice to be misinterpreted.
I went on to ask Susie about the kind of people that
come to her for help and she admitted that they hail
from all walks of life.
''Problems with living space are not confined to particular
social classes or business groups.
|
In
my experience these problems affect everyone. l've had fighting
couples, disenchanted teenagers and even traumatised pensioners
approach me about issues they feel are connected to their
living environment.
I pressed Susie on how she went about her work; and although
she didn't want to reveal too much about her specific procedures
she told me that it was not always necessary to be on site
to resolve a problem.
'' My work is probably split evenly between site visits
and remote clearing. If people from overseas, or at more
remote areas of the country, contact me with issues relating
to their living environment I can do a lot of the necessary
work simply with the help of floor glans and photographs.
''Although this might seem unusual to anyone unfamiliar
with the art, as a geomancer, I can 'tune' into a location
using these floor plans and photographs and move any energies
that are causing problems.
''I do not advertise outside of my website, so the majority
of my work comes to me via referrals or word of mouth. If
people have a need they usually somehow find the solution,
even if it takes them a little while.
There is something Karmic about the whole process."
It might be easy for people to dismiss Susie Shaw's theories
and ideas as crackpot superstition but there is no doubting
the fact that she has a Iong list of satisfied customers
who would willingly testify to the validity and success
of her work. You cannot argue with the results.
GEOMANCY
EXPLAINED
Strictly
speaking, the term geomancy reffers to an ancient
form of belief in which, simply put, handfuls of soil
or other materials were scattered on the ground, or
markings made in the earth or sand, to generate a
range of dot configurations which could then be ''
read '' by a seer.
In the 19th century, hovvever, geomancy came to be
applied to the Chinese practice of feng shui by which
the location and orientation of houses and tombs was
determined with close regard to the topography of
the local landscape.
The
feng shui master, or geomancer, employed a circular
magnetic compass, called a Iuopan, which was marked
off in rings containing data relating to astrology,
directions, the elements, landscape forms, times of
day, and so on. The aim was to locate a site where
the energies or chi of the land and sky were brought
into perfect balance. The harmony of these energies
ensured good fortune.
The
silence of feng Shui, literally ''wind and wafer,"
recognised that certain powerful currents and Iines
of magnetism run invisibly through the landscape over
the whole surface of the earth. The task of the geomancer
was to detect these currents and interpret their influences
on the land through which they pass. These Iines of
magnetic force, known in China as the ''dragon current",
or lungmei, existed in two forms: the yin or negative
current represented by the white tiger, and the yang
or positive current represented by the blue dragon.
The landscape will display truth yin and yang features;
gently undulating country is yin, or female, while
sharp rocks and steep mountains are yang or male.
